第七届上海双年展《衣裳：跑马场上的华丽转身》
星期四, 十一月 20th, 2008王强的《衣裳：跑马场上的华丽转身》以上海服饰史作为视点，来揭示各国各乡服饰文化的特质。服装的历史本身就是一个民族历史的缩影，而独特的海派服装历史也体现了上海这个移民城市的文化变迁史，将上海具有移民色彩的建筑和改革开放以来受到国际影响的建筑呈现于更迭不断变化的服饰之上。作品阐述了上海这个独特的城市的过去、现在以及她生机勃勃的未来。作品挂在原跑马厅北楼的楼梯上，这使得其形式更加表现出轻盈透明的华丽。
Wang Qiang’s Clothes: Magnificent Turn on the Racetrack uses the history of clothing styles in Shanghai as a point of focus to reveal differences in the culture of fashion across different villages and countries. The history of clothing is in and of itself a miniaturization of a nation s history. The unique style of dress found throughout Shanghai’s history also represents the history of cultural change of this immigrant city. This work describes Shanghai s unique past and present and its lively future by juxtaposing Shanghai s colorful architecture and the international influence on its architecture in the wake of China s reforms against its constantly changing fashions. The works are displayed in the stair well of the northern building of the former racetrack, helping them better represent the grandness of the city of Shanghai.
